Honors College

The Honors College brings together a community of students and faculty devoted to the love of learning, the cultivation of wonder, and the pursuit of life’s most important questions both in and beyond the classroom. It unites four innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate programs: the Honors Program, University Scholars, Baylor Interdisciplinary Core, and Great Texts. Each is committed to exploring questions that cross the boundaries of specialized disciplines, engaging with the writings of scientists alongside poets, historians, and philosophers.

Accelerate

Baylor University’s Honors College is driven by its mission: to prepare bright students to think critically and unite well-formed Christian faith and intellect in pursuit of their callings.

For this mission to succeed, the Honors College relies on the Baylor Family’s support of the Core Four — the foundational funding areas that strengthen this work: scholarships, faculty funding, flexible excellence resources and program resourcing.

Student Scholarships

Few gifts more directly impact the life of a Baylor University student than a scholarship. These gifts open doors for students and fuel the school’s growth, innovation and opportunities.

Faculty Funding

Giving to enhance research and scholarly achievement enables the Honors College to attract and retain outstanding faculty members. Endowment support in the form of endowed chairs and professorships gives the Honors College dependable, enduring funding to grow the quality of the scholar-teachers at the heart of students' learning.

Dean’s Excellence Fund

The Dean’s Excellence Fund helps the Honors College to anticipate and respond to the many needs that arise throughout an academic year. The fund’s flexible use format provides resources that can be used to quickly address emerging needs that are important to the success of the Honors College and its students.

Program Resourcing

Giving to support student success programs, hands-on learning and internship experiences, study abroad, and mission trip opportunities provides flexible resources to meet needs as they arise.

Vision for the Future

Dean Douglas Henry, Ph.D., strives to grow the College’s endowment and support programs through current gifts that will foster our transformative academic community of teaching and learning. Serving 1,400 undergraduates in more than 90 majors, the Honors College equips bright students to think critically and unite a well-formed Christian faith with intellect as they pursue their callings.
