Louise Herrington School of Nursing

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing provides a competitively robust education through the integration of faith and academic excellence. We believe that nurses have been called to make a difference and we prepare our students to serve and care for the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of their patients as we build toward a brighter future together.

Accelerate

Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) is driven by its mission: to prepare Baccalaureate and Graduate level nurses, within a Christian community, for professional practice, healthcare leadership and worldwide service.

For this mission to succeed, LHSON relies on the Baylor Family’s support of the Core Four — the foundational funding areas that strengthen this work: scholarships, faculty funding, flexible excellence resources and program resourcing.

Student Scholarships

Few gifts more directly impact the life of a Baylor University student than a scholarship. These gifts open doors for students and fuel the school’s growth, innovation and opportunities.

Faculty Funding

Giving to enhance cutting edge research has the potential to improve patient care and education and training within the nursing profession and enables LHSON to attract and retain outstanding faculty members. Endowment support in the form of endowed chairs and professorships gives the School dependable, enduring funding to grow its research capacity.

Dean’s Excellence Fund

The Dean’s Excellence Fund helps Baylor LHSON to anticipate and respond to the many needs that arise throughout an academic year. The fund’s flexible use format provides resources that can be used to quickly address emerging needs that are important to the success of Baylor LHSON and its students.

Program Resourcing

Giving to support student success programs, hands-on and simulated learning experiences, student organizations, and programs provides flexible resources to meet needs as they arise.

Vision for the Future

Dean Linda Plank, Ph.D., RN, NEA-BC, has a vision for the School, where students called as Baylor Nurses see their paths clear of financial obstacles, where the School’s faculty lead the country in research and teaching with the most cutting edge technological advancements and where all student experiences are marked with the excellence and intentionality inherent in an LHSON education.
